China March trade surplus 13.41 bln usd

BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - China posted a trade surplus of 13.41 bln usd in March, rebounding from 8.56 bln in February, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs.

The surplus for the first quarter was 41.42 bln usd.

Exports in March totaled 108.96 bln usd, up 30.6 pct year-on-year, while exports in the first three months totaled 305.90 bln usd, up 21.4 pct.

March imports totaled 95.56 bln usd, up 24.6 pct year-on-year, while imports in the first quarter totaled 264.48 bln usd, up 28.6 pct.

China exported 10.20 mln tons of coal in the first three months, down 10.7 pct year-on-year, while exports in March totaled 1.45 mln tons.

Coke exports declined by 19.6 pct to 2.93 mln tons during the quarter, with exports in March at 1.24 mln tons.

Exports of mechanical and electrical products totaled 181.37 bln usd in the January-March period, up 23.1 pct year-on-year, while high-tech product exports were 92.74 bln usd, up 17.4 pct.

Copper imports fell 8.9 pct to 706,994 tons in the quarter, with March imports at 240,634 tons.

China imported 102,772 vehicles in the first three months, up 74.7 pct from a year earlier.

China also imported 74 aircraft in the quarter, up 51.0 pct year-on-year.
